| What is KVM/IP? |
KVM/IP is a technology offered to our colocation clients that allows you to access your server(s) as if you were physically at the console, right from your web browser. This means you can access your server even if a network card goes bad, or the system is otherwise unavailable through normal means. It also means you can adjust system settings such as BIOS settings or boot sector changes from anywhere in the world without needing to make a trip down to the datacenter.
The KVM/IP technology we employ can support only a limited number of simultaneous users, so please consider using traditional management methods (SSH, Terminal Services, PCAnywhere) when they are available and reserve the use of KVM/IP for emergency situations when other methods are not available. This will help ensure that a user session is available for you and other users when needed. If you wish to use KVM/IP for everyday management, please contact your salesperson for information on acquiring a dedicated KVM/IP switch.
